I am always impressed by the rows of rolled hay stacked on farmland. Typically the rolls (bales?) seem to go on forever. I’ve never seen anyone actually rolling the hay to create the orderly storage, nor do I know what that shape is best used for. Maybe it doesn’t matter, it’s just a compact way to package it up. Or, perhaps, just like I prefer fettuccine over angel hair pasta, the grazing farm animals prefer to eat off a roll as opposed to loose. A thought to ponder.
